I was talking to my painter about painting my inner fairing and some other minor cosmetic paint work. He called to tell me the cost of the tricolor paint for my 2010 street glide. It was $250.00 a pint. Does that sound right? I have no reason to belive otherwise I am just shocked at the cost. I am still going to paint the inner fairing but I might add a fender tip cover on the bottom of the front and rear fenders rather than have it repaired and painted. Do you think that will look okay on that model bike?

I think I would bite the bullet and paint it. To me adding the tips would take away from the whole Streetglide theme.
But that's just me, each to his own.

I know, I thought about the whole street glide effect with the tips. The previous owner told me that he thought the fenders were prone to getting chipped at the edge of the rear part of the fender. I will go wild if I get the fender repaired and it happens again. Are others having this problem?

My friend wanted to paint his helmet to match his police edition Ultra. When he told us it was $89.00 a pint we couldn't believe it. That's cheap compared to this.

2 years ago I bought a quart of Aqua Pearl from the PPG store for my 95 EG. It was $200.00 a quart then.

Thats what I was thinking. Our local painter uses PPG to match the HD colors. Typicaly I remember the prices being 200.00-250.00 a QUART not pint.

Confirmed it with the painter who is getting the paint from PPG. It is $250.00 a PINT! I really like the color but know scratches are inevitable.

Well at least you're not painting a Hummer.

The price of this is just a plain ripoff. I just can't see how any kind of paint should be that much.

I don't know anywhere else to get it either. I generally don't have a problem with HD but this is just nuts. I will keep looking around for another solution since I have a few weeks before I take the parts in. If I find anything I wwill post it in case someone else needs this paint too.

When I want to match the factory orange on my 07 RG I was told 150-250 300 a quart all over the place.
I ordered a quart from HD is was 100. You just have to shop and check around.
Some of those fancy paints have additives in them that have been in short supply, we all know what that does to prices.
Ford is having the same issues.

Hey WYDIR I am not sure what happened but I got your reply as an email but not here on the forum, anyway I use to paint hot rods so am familiar with paint products. My question to you is and the reason is. I live in AZ because my wife has cancer so I don't have my compressor and paint equipment anymore but I dented the front fender on my '09 ultra that is Red Hot Sunglo I have done most of the repair and just waiting to rat hole the money to have it shot. I would like to shoot it my self, can you put the rhs kit into rattle cans so I could shoot the front fender. I wouldn't do a bike but was thinking a fender might be able to be done verses what a painter is going to charge.

I have seen jobbers put paint in to aresol cans before so it is possible. Not sure if they are around you or not but they are called Finishmaster, they are kinda paint whores they sell many brands like BASF,PPG, and maybe they will able to help you out on this.

So yes you can get all the products that pros use to paint Including clearcoat(yes the kinds with hardener) in aresol cans, they are speacial type so the hardener is kept seperate until time of use and will have a "window" if you will that you can use it in after that it will harden in the can.

hope that helped atleast a lil bit if not I'm sorry its early for me after getting my butt kicked this AM :)
