About Dale
I got my first ride on a motorcycle at the age of 12. It was the summer of 1961. A guy with a beautiful Panhead Hydra-Glide stopped by our house because he wanted to impress my older sister. She wanted nothing to do with the biker. She wouldn’t even go out and say hello. I quickly went to the driveway and begged a ride. The biker thought he might get the beautiful girl by going through the little brother. As it turned out, the only love that developed was my love of motorcycles.

I bought my first motorcycle in 1969 while I was in the Navy. It was a Yamaha 360 dirt bike. Two years later I bought a Honda CB750 and loaded it onto the ship. When the ship returned to the States 3 weeks later, I was discharged. I offloaded the Honda and, along with 2 Navy buddies, I spent the next 3 months touring the US. Motorcycles have been a part of his life ever since.

By 1972 the CB750 was a chopper. At the time, I worked in a body shop to put myself through college. It just made sense to get out the cutting torch and spray gun. I customized a 1994 Sportster that won 3rd place at the 1997 Rat’s Hole Show in Daytona. In 1998/1999 I built a “ground up” hardtail Panhead. It took 3rd place in the 1999 Rat’s Hole “Over 1000 Radical Class”. The Panhead was featured in several magazines and was on the cover of 2 magazines, one of which was from Belgium.
I currently ride a 2001 Road King. It may be my last bike because I would be hard pressed to give up a carburetor. I know FI is more efficient but, I like the old school. I like to fiddle a bit to start a bike. Just pushing a button feels weird. My wife rides a 2006 Heritage. We love road trips together.

I’ve been an Electrical Contractor for the past 22 years. Because of the economy I decided to shut the doors a couple of weeks ago. Now I’m retired & volunteer at the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge & Nature Center. If you’re ever in Hobe Sound, FL stop by. I’ll let you kiss the crocodile! Update 04/04/2012: Employed by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Park Ranger, Hobe Sound NWR.
