Every 5k or once a year. That said, if I had only 1k miles on it, I would not change it.

Sometimes bearings just go, especially the cheap junk. When washing, don’t spray directly at the bearing, specifically if it’s power washing.

Welcome from VT, Bob has the right advice (I suppose I should say “Bob’s your uncle” now).

He’s using a 6 gallon tank. The 1311D sealing screws and top gasket aren’t used on the 08 and later touring tanks.

You can see the parts in the 6 gallon tanks in the pic. #18 is the top plate of which I speak.

Top plate is separate from the fuel pump. Anyone needing a new pump would keep their top plate and just replace the pump.
