    Exhaust Clamps

Does anyone know if anyone makes clamps for motorcycle exhausts in the same style that is used on tractor-trailer exhausts? It's a 2-bolt clamp with a band that actually forms itself to the joint when tightened.

    Jim,
    I'd recommend you try mcmaster.com.

Summit racing has them. They are called a "Walker Lap Joint" style clamp. Here is a link

Those might work. The fancy ones I tried from drag specialties were worthless. Went back to stock clamps.

I recently remove clamps like those in the op. They were on for a couple months on a new after market system and already allowing leakage. They were on a car but still the same clamp. The bolts were tight and the clamps came with the exhaust system as a kit. It seemed to me the bands must have stretched do to being so thin.

Well, if the inlets were 2.00 inch diameter those might work as that is the smallest size offered. However, if I am not mistaken, HD header pipes are 1-3/4.

No...the slipons are supposed to arrive Monday but tracking still has them in Edwards, CA.

Smitty: Who makes those clamps? They are exactly the same clamps I used to safetywire on the motors I used to work on in the Navy.

Joel: which clamps were you referring to that were no good? The ones I originally posted, the ones Clutch linked or the ones Smitty posted?

Jim, they were from drag specialties. They were high quality SS. However they were junk they did not hold
They did not seal. I had thought they would conceal better and give a cleaner install . They were a major let down.
HD exhaust go though some major heat changes up and down along with vibration and road conditions.
I went back to stock HD clamps and never looked back. And you can reuse stock clamps.

I'm sure we still have them in the scrap bin, they look just like those in the original post, when I get to work tomorrow I'll post a pic and see if there is a name brand on them.
