    Scavenge type oil change?

Anybody done a "scavenge" type of oil change on a newer touring bike? Always did it on my Softail, but my Streetglide is a different setup. Has oil cooler and no external oil tank. Softail doesn't so was easy to do the scavenge. This will be the first time I service the SG myself. I welcome any and all advice.

I do my services on my '14 limited but don't do a scavenge type. Just open the drain plug and the fill top and let her drain until it is just a small drip.
If it feels good DO IT

Main question would be why. Still as valid today as they day they dreamed the system up. I used find it to be more snake oil.

I like my 2 Harley's to have a belly full of clean fresh oil, like the day they rolled out of Milwaukee! And tens of thousands of Harley owners since 2003, think the same way I do ! You are riding around with a dirty qt. after an oil change ! What's up with that, do you think that's a good thing, for your Harley !

PS, example; your running Harley Dino oil, in your Softail, you drain the motor oil. You decide to use Mobil V-Twin Synthetic, you add 3 qt. to the tank, at start up, that dirty qt. that you left in the motor mixes with the New Synthetic, now you have a Dirty Blend, not my cup of Tea (oil) !

I get the idea , but more miles than you can believe, it has never made a bit of difference as for the little mixing syn and standard oils the myth flew away years ago.
