    Primary fluid smells.

    While doing a change of fluids the primary came out smelling a little burnt ( like burnt electric). This is on a 2007 ultra using Formula+. Got a good ride in before doing the change and oil was really warm/hot. I have never noticed it smell before. From the smell I'm thinking stator. Gauge has always read 14+ and never had a charging problem. I did not pull the primary cover yet for a visual and there is no more burnt smell coming from the derby cover access hole today.

    A burnt smell indicates stator. That said, it is a distinct pungent smell and you will know it. Riding it and changing it while hot will often give a smell of hot oil that can smell like it is burnt. If you have any concerns, best to test the charging system. You're probably all set though if you have no indications of an issue otherwise.

    Mine smells like this I just change oil twice a year .. formula +
    And keep eye on gage and check with vom running every so often reading 14.6 v or so
