Well, after saving up forever, I finally had enough scratch to buy the S&S kit for the cam plate and oil pump. I have to say, S&S makes a fine product. There's not only engine assembly lube and loctite shipped with it, but the o-rings needed as well! Click here to enlargeWork of art by Fred Snider, on Flickr
I got it all buttoned up Saturday and fired it up. The oil pressure is wonderful. Unfortunately, there is an unnerving tapping noise that sounds like it is coming from the front head! I double checked the pushrods to be clear and adjusted properly. I will try to remove the gas tank and rocker box cover tonight or tomorrow night to try to zero in on the problem. This really sucks. We wanted to ride the bike from the wedding to the mountains for a week of honeymooning. I'm running out of time and money!

Think you made a good choice with the S&S .. Hopefully the tapping noise is an easy fix ..
