    Got a Road King!

Sold the Softail on a Tuesday evening for $5,000. Before the guy showed up, the wife was on Facebook marketplace helping me look for a replacement. I was looking for a TC Road King, preferably with the chain tensioners replaced preemptively, or at a price where I could afford to do it. Found a lot from $4,500-5,000 range, but while I was waiting on responses on Facebook, I tried calling a guy on Craigslist who had a 2004 for $5,200. Add just said "dependable, cam chain upgrade". 2 pictures of a beautiful red RK with no windshield or passenger backrest. When he answered, I asked about the back rest, because, you know, wife. He had not only a quick disconnect passenger back rest, but an after market fairing with a stereo! Talked him down to 5 grand where he stayed firm, and arranged to pick it up the following Saturday! So I am now the proud owner of fuel injected RK! He also threw in a cover, battery tender, an extra windshield, and a set a fiberglass bags! What do you guys think? Thanks, guys! It's almost perfect. The PO was vertically challenged, so it has a thin seat and a 1" lowering kit. I'm 6'3" and the stupid handlebars hit my knees in tight turns. New handlebars are expensive.

First of all Congrats on the New Ride .. Personally I don't think can find a Better Ride Looks Wise than a Road King.. That Particular Design has been around since Harley Built the Hydra Glide in 1949 .. With Many Improvements Yes, but still Similar .. Just a bit of Advice which is your call to Decide .. Are several different ways of Upgrading the Cam Tensioners .. The most economical is just Cyco Tensioners themselves which is a good one, but still worth opening the Cam Chest and Inspecting .. I did the SE Hydraulic Upgrade on my Dyna which also included Higher Flow Fueling Oil Pump .. Only thing may have to do is pull the Exhaust to Inspect this, But New Exhaust Gaskets would not be a bad idea anyway on a Ride this Age and Use High Temp Never Seize on the Header Studs .. One other thing as Have been through it .. 04-05 had trouble with Crank Position Sensors if it is running fine don't worry about it .. But if start to get what feels like Ignition Misses, Misfiring or Injectors feeling like not Delivering Fuel , by all means check that First and Ensure your Part# Replacement ends with a "C" As they had to upgrade it twice before they got it right .. Other than these 2 Issues My 05 Dyna has been a True Jewel and Basically you have the Same Engine I do , And if can help in anyway feel free to ask me .. Best of Luck to you with it .. Jay

I learned about the cam tensioners a long time ago thanks to you guys. I didn't know about the crank position sensor, though. Hope you're doing good, Jay.
